In November, Upmo launched its first ever online auction to raise funds for our creative workshops.
The online auction took place over a three-week period. Students, staff and local artists were asked to submit shadow box artworks for the auction and the response was overwhelming.
Participating artists used a wide spectrum of different media, including sculpture, painting, collage, plaster and concrete and produced some gorgeous art works. Not only was the auction an excellent opportunity for our students to showcase their artistic talents to a wide audience, it also opened up lines of communication with local artists and organisations. Many talented artists based in Edinburgh Palette took part. We would like to express our thanks to Edinburgh Palette and all its residents for supporting us with this project. We are very excited about the prospect of building on these relationships in the future.
The preview night was a great opportunity for us to thank the artists personally for being involved and also for potential bidders to see the works first hand. The night was very well attended and our Dance Chi workshop treated us to a stunning and up lifting performance of 'Highlander' and 'Sea and Swan' to close the event.
We are very proud to say that the auction raised £1,110 and the shadow boxes are currently making their way to their new owners.
