Upmo x Dynamic Earth | Our Solar System & Beyond

We are delighted to work in collaboration with Dynamic Earth on a programme of workshops with Upmo students, that will culminate in a presentation of their work in Dynamic Earth’s Planetarium in June 2022.

Over the course of four months, students will work through four stages of Our Solar System and Beyond: The Night Sky (Introduction to Astronomy), Our Solar System, Extra Solar and Space Exploration. During this brand-new programme, students will engage with these subjects and learn about the universe through multimedia workshops with Upmo facilitators.

Course content has been produced by Upmo Connect, our online and digital resource originally developed in response to Covid-19 lockdown measures. The programme will include a close working relationship with Dynamic Earth, who will provide online learning resources to support our activities as well as the opportunity for students to visit.

The Planetarium presentation in the dome is part of Dynamic Earth’s wider ambition to engage third sector and community groups in the production of media. We are delighted to take part, giving our students the opportunity to learn about space through multimedia, while working towards a major public outcome.

Upmo provides support and opportunity to adults with learning disabilities and autism. We encourage active learning for our students to expand knowledge of a variety of topics at a pace that suits them, often working in partnership to provide meaningful, quality experiences to our students.

This project is a partnership with Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh. Supported by Scottish Power Foundation.
