New Trustees

Upmo has appointed four new Trustees to our Board, each bringing with them skills and experience that will help drive forward our mission to provide support and opportunity to adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Along with the exciting news of welcoming these new Trustees, we are also saying a fond farewell to Sophie Dow, who will step down from her role as Upmo Trustee after five and a half years of service. During her time on Upmo’s Board, Sophie has brought a huge amount of professional and personal experience to our Board. Her vital perspective has been central to decision-making and moving the charity forward. We wish Sophie all the very best for the future.

The Board of Trustees are responsible for Upmo’s governance, and they each provide professional and personal insight and experiences that are essential to the charity’s development.

“We are delighted to welcome our new Trustees and are sure that their combined experience will further develop and affirm Upmo’s important work and position in the sector.” - Eric Mitchell, Chair of the Board.

To introduce our new Trustees, here is some more information about each of them:

Nasir Ali is a qualified chartered accountant having led operations in Africa for 10 years as Senior Partner for a renowned global firm specialising in risk management, market analysis and finance.

Antonio Longo has 20 years project management experience of global procurement, logistics, economics and digital transformation.

Sonya Campbell-Perry is a senior lecturer and programme leader for a leading Scottish University. She has a passion and enthusiasm for all things learning and teaching, bringing over 25 years of cross-sector management leadership experience.

Paul Atkinson CBE has a distinguished career in the RAF and since leaving, has been Director of a large UK charity and now operates as a strategic advisor to the Scottish Government on Covid-19 strategy.

We are thrilled to have these new Trustees on Board and look forward to working with each of them over the coming months.
